National Day of Remembrance for Motorcycle Deaths in Argentina
National Day of Remembrance for Motorcycle Deaths in Argentina is held on August 16. This event in the second decade of the month August is annual.
It was born from the need to remember and commemorate fatal victims of road accidents and raise awareness about road safety to avoid injuries and deaths.
The beginning of the initiative took place in the first months of 2014, from a project of Germán Block referring to the day of the death of his brother Guillermo Block, who was the victim of a motorcycle accident. In commemoration of the man who died in 2013 in a road accident on Route 226.
A 33-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after a violent collision with a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. Such was the force of the impact that both the victim's body and the motorcycle on which he was riding ended up several meters away from the place of impact.
Every August 16, since 2014, the "Day of the Fallen on Motorcycles" is commemorated in city, from the sanction of Municipal Ordinance No. 3,702/14.
However, the proposal was immediately extended to all persons killed in traffic accidents of similar characteristics.
