Argentine National Anthem Day

On July 22, 1812, the First Triumvirate suggested to the Cabildo of Buenos Aires the composition of a march of the homeland to be interpreted at the beginning of the theatrical performances and in the schools at the end of the daily classes, with the public having to listen to it standing up and uncovered. The following year, the General Constituent Assembly of Year XIII entrusted Vicente López y Planes with the lyrics of the anthem and Blas Parera with the composition of new music. On May 11, 1813 it was approved as the Patriotic March.

On May 11, 1813, the General Constituent Assembly approved as "Anthem" the patriotic march written by Vicente López y Planes with music by Blas Parera. In commemoration of that date we remember two special versions: one of them, performed by musicians of the national ensembles, from their homes; another one, the intercultural one, in the voices of children from schools in Córdoba, Chaco, Río Negro and Santiago del Estero.
