6 November - Marooned Without a Compass Day
Marooned Without A Compass Day is November 6, and is the perfect holiday for teaching your classroom about the little, magnetic "old-fashioned GPS", and how early explorers used them to navigate the open ocean. It's a day meant to remind us of our inner sense of direction… or lack their of. If you're a boy scout or wilderness survivalist you will be better trained to figure out how to "get out" when marooned using the sun, stars, moss on trees, etc. The day can be looked at as a challenge, where people purposely get lost and try to find their way back to civilization without a compass. The day can also be looked at as a day to get out into the wilderness and unplug from technology and just relax.
