The Schützenfest in Bergneustadt is a traditional folk festival that takes place every year at Whitsun. It is organized by the Schützenverein Bergneustadt 1353 e.V., which can look back on an impressive 670-year history.
Highlights and special features:
Rock night: On Friday evening, the festival begins with a rock night, where bands such as “OPA KOMMT” perform and offer a musical journey through time through the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Traditional parade: On Saturday, the marksmen march together through the town, accompanied by marching bands and citizens. The main street is closed for this, which creates a special atmosphere.
Bird shooting: The traditional bird shooting takes place on Sunday, an exciting competition that attracts many visitors.
Funfair: The funfair on the Schützenplatz offers entertainment for the whole family and remains open until Tuesday.
The festival combines tradition with modern elements and attracts both locals and visitors from the surrounding area. It is a living example of the cultivation of customs and community. Does that sound like an event you would like to attend?
