The spring fair in Castrop-Rauxel is a lively folk festival with over 500 years of history. Originally established as a celebration for the consecration of a church, the fair has developed into an indispensable part of the social and cultural life of the town.
The opening ceremony traditionally takes place on Friday, the 12th day after Easter, in the Ferris wheel. The highlight is the ceremonial toasting of the mayor's barrel, which puts visitors in a festive mood.
The funfair offers an impressive selection of around 70 rides and stalls. Attractions include a spectacular Ferris wheel, an exciting rollover swing and a popular bumper car. Additional fun is provided by “Happy Monday”, when many rides have a special “pay once, ride twice” offer.
In addition to the fun, guests can also expect culinary highlights. The spring funfair combines tradition with a colorful mix of fun rides, treats and conviviality and attracts visitors of all ages.
