The Karpfham Festival, also known as the Rottalschau, is one of the largest folk festivals in Bavaria and attracts up to half a million visitors to Bad Griesbach im Rottal every year. Rottalschau: A large agricultural and trade exhibition with over 800 exhibitors from all sectors.
The Karpfham festival has a long tradition and dates back to 1888. At that time, the first “District Horse Show” was held in Karpfham. Over the years, this event developed into today's folk festival. Since 1950, the Karpfham festival has been held annually on the first weekend in September. In 1970, the Rottal Show was integrated into the festival.
Equestrian sports: Traditionally, the festival is dedicated to horse breeding and equestrian sports with shows and tournaments. A highlight is the presentation of the Rottaler Zehnerzug, a team of ten Rottalers harnessed in pairs in front of a historic stagecoach.
Supporting program: In addition to the marquee events and the Rottal show, the Karpfham festival offers a varied supporting program with music, theater, cabaret and traditional events.
Today, the Karpfham Festival is an integral part of the cultural calendar in Bavaria and a popular excursion destination for young and old.
