The Assumption Fair in Warendorf is a folk festival with a long tradition that takes place every year on the weekend after August 15th. It is closely linked to the church festival of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and offers a colorful program with fairground stalls, fairground rides and live music in addition to the traditional Marian worship.
On Friday evening, there is a solemn procession through the town, during which the nine magnificent Marian arches are illuminated.
Lohwall funfair: From Thursday to Monday, the Lohwall funfair attracts visitors with numerous fairground rides, stalls and food stalls.
The Bürgerschützenfest on Saturday and Sunday is another highlight of the festival. The Warendorf guilds of marksmen present themselves in their magnificent uniforms.
On Sunday lunchtime, a parade with all the participants of the festival moves through the streets of the town.
Today, the Mariä Himmelfahrtskirmes is one of the largest and most popular folk festivals in the region and attracts visitors from near and far every year.
