Kirkel Castle Summer
Kirkel Castle Summer is held on July 22. This event in the third decade of the month July is annual. Help us
This year, the Middle Ages will come to life for a short time at Kirkel Castle. Kirkel Castle was built before 1075 as a Gaugrafenburg and functioned as an imperial fortress in the 12th century. The castle was destroyed by arson in 1689. A visit to the medieval castle ruins is worthwhile at any time of year. At the foot of the castle is the Kirkel local history and castle museum, which is housed in a small farmhouse from the 18th century.
Once a proud symbol of aristocratic power, today it is the landmark of the municipality of Kirkel and the annual venue for the Kirkel Castle Summer knights' spectacle.
The Kirkel Castle Summer allows children and adults to take a leap into the age of knights, squires and craftsmen. Here you can experience the past - and most importantly - have fun in a family atmosphere: In the immediate vicinity of the excavation, our participants have the opportunity to recreate such medieval things themselves, to explore the tricks and knacks of the craftsmen of the past.
