Rock am Ring is a music festival founded by Marek Lieberberg. Rock am Ring was first held in 1985 and was originally planned as a one-off event. However, due to its great success with 75,000 spectators, it was decided to hold the event every year.
It is considered the most traditional rock festival in Germany, although various genres are now represented: In addition to rock music artists, rappers and electronic dance music producers often perform.
Number 1: Summerfest - It calls itself "the biggest festival in the world" - the Summerfest in Milwaukee, USA. It is celebrated on three consecutive weekends - with 800 bands and a total of 900,000 visitors.
Rock im Park has been held in Nuremberg since 1997, at the same time as Rock am Ring in the Eifel region. Normally the same bands play at the twin festivals, but due to scheduling difficulties, for example, it sometimes happens that individual bands can only be seen at one of the two festivals.
