Originally from Africa, according to art historians, and brought to America by the colonizers, it found in Paraguay such good ground that it ended up generating its own version in the object and technique, and becoming an indisputable sign of identity.
In commemoration of the death of the emblematic cult of this instrument, Félix Pérez Cardozo, in 1997 it was established by official decree that on June 9 of each year the National Day of the Paraguayan Harp will be celebrated.
