8 September - Nativity of the Virgin Mary
The Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (Latin: Festum in Nativitate Beatae Mariae Virginis) is celebrated on September 8 in the ecclesiastical year of the Roman Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and the Anglican Church. It commemorates the birth of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
The Church only celebrates three birthdays a year: the birth of Jesus at Christmas, the birth of John the Baptist on June 24 and the birth of Mary, the Mother of God, on September 8.
As the name suggests, the significance of the feast of the Nativity of Mary lies in the commemoration of the birth of the mother of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated every year on September 8, exactly nine months after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin and Mother of God Mary on December 8.
