Every year we commemorate the 35 victims of the arson attack in the Anatolian province of Sivas (Turkey)! On July 2, 1993, an Islamic mob burned 35 people alive in the Madimak Hotel. The victims of this massacre had come for the festival in honor of Pir Sultan Abdal (Alevi poet and singer in the 16th century).
The anniversary of the Sivas massacre is marked every year by protests and commemorative events. During the massacre on July 2, 1993, a lynch mob set fire to the hotel where the participants of an Alevi festival were staying. 33 intellectuals and artists were killed. Two hotel employees were also killed in the fire.
