The colorful Spielbudenfestival takes place in the heart of the Reeperbahn in July. The festival for street art and theater on Spielbudenplatz has become an integral part of Hamburg's cultural scene and presents artists from all over the world.
The Spielbudenfestival is free and a festival for the whole family.
Street art on Spielbudenplatz has a long tradition: the first wooden stalls were set up as early as 1795, where puppet theaters and tightrope walkers, among others, put on performances. These stalls gave the square its name. The Spielbudenfestival on St. Pauli continues this tradition and brings a colorful program of different genres such as acrobatics, comedy, music, magic and curiosities to the stage every year.
