Since 1999, the international Festival Maritim has taken place every year in August in Bremen-Vegesack. With more than 170 concerts and a colorful supporting program, the event is a highlight for young and old.
On the first weekend in August, the air in Bremen-Vegesack tastes of wind, ocean and life at sea! Musicians from the international maritime music scene make sure of that at the "Festival Maritim". More than 30 bands from England, Scotland, France and the Netherlands, among others, are coming to Bremen to celebrate the occasion! They will present their songs about the sea.
This extraordinary open-air spectacle attracts around 120,000 visitors to the north of Bremen every year and is now one of the most important events of its kind in the world. The music ranges from Irish and Scottish rock to Celtic folklore and tender ballads. A total of ten open-air stages are set up along the Weser. Street musicians also take over the pedestrian zone, streets and cafés in the city center.
