26 April - Tree blossom festival in Werder an der Havel
The tree blossom festival in Werder an der Havel is an enchanting start to spring under blossoming trees, accompanied by the sweet note of fruit wine.
Every year, the town of Werder invites visitors to the week-long tree blossom festival, which attracts thousands of visitors. The special atmosphere in the orchards, where guests sit on wooden benches and enjoy the delicious produce of the region, makes the festival a popular event.
The festival begins with an impressive parade of over 1000 participants through the town to the market square on the town island. Tradition and culture merge at the Tree Blossom Festival, accompanied by live music on several stages and a breathtaking view of the blossoms from the Ferris wheel. The highlight is the crowning of the Tree Blossom Queen.
The tree blossom festival has been a firm tradition in Werder for over 140 years. It goes back to the fruit grower Wilhelm Wills, who had the idea of inviting nature lovers to the tree blossom in 1879. Today, numerous farms cultivate around 980 hectares of land in the fruit-growing association, with apple trees covering the largest area of around 186 hectares. Werder is known for the successful cultivation of various types of fruit, which thrive particularly well in the region.
