Experience the Augsburger Plärrer - the largest folk festival in Bavarian Swabia with over a million visitors! Originally started as folk festival-like amusements at various markets in the city center of Augsburg, in the 19th century, the "barking" of ship swings and shooting ranges was moved to the Kleiner Exerzierplatz so as not to disturb the citizens.
Since 1878, the Plärrer has been held twice a year, in spring from Easter Sunday and in late summer from the end of August, each time for two weeks. Look forward to the two large beer tents "Binswanger" and "Schaller", modern rides and nostalgic carousels and stalls. A special highlight is the "Plärrerlied", a poem by Bertolt Brecht dedicated to the folk festival. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this traditional spectacle!
