Great Saturday (Latin: Sabbatum Sanctum; Greek: Μεγάλο Σάβββατον), Holy Saturday, commemorating the burial of the body of Jesus Christ in the tomb and his descent into hell (according to the beliefs of most Christian denominations); it is also a preparation for Easter, the Resurrection of Christ, which is celebrated on Saturday night.
