It should be reminded that there are other holidays and dates of global scale dedicated to this topic: International Day of Ophthalmology (August 8) and International Day of the Blind (November 13).
Contrary to numerous myths, there is no difference between an ophthalmologist and an ophthalmologist! They are different translations of the same word - "eye". Oculus (oculist) is the Latin name, ophthalmos (ophthalmologist) is the ancient Greek translation of the word "eye"!
