Once the Report of the National Commission on Political Prisoners and Torture, better known as the Valech Report, was closed in 2004, in that process more than 30 thousand testimonies of victims of human rights violations of the civil-military dictatorship were delivered, whose names of the perpetrators remain secret.
During her first mandate, in 2009 the then President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet Jeria, through decree 119 of the Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency, established October 30 as the National Day of the Politically Executed. In an act of symbolic reparation, this date includes part of the historical demands of memory, justice, reparation and non-repetition.
