6 November - Gustavus Adolphus Day in Sweden
The King Gustavus Adolphus (born December 9, 1594, Stockholm, Sweden—died November 6, 1632, Lützen, Saxony [now in Germany]) widely regarded as one of Sweden's best kings. He was a progressive. Gustavus Adolphus is known as the "father of modern warfare", or the first modern general.
He taught a number of other military commanders, such as Lennart Torstensson, who would go on to expand the boundaries and the power of Swedish Empire after Gustavus Adolphus's death.
Gustavus Adolphus Day (Swedish: Gustav Adolfsdagen; Finnish: Kustaa Aadolfin päivä; Estonian: Gustav Adolfi päev) is celebrated in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia on 6 November in memory of King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. Observing the day became popular after the 200th anniversary of the king's death in 1632. It is a general flag flying day in Sweden and Finland. Today it is mainly connected with the consumption of Gustavus Adolphus pastries.
