It began in Peru on October 12, 2009, when Law No. 29421 was decreed by the Congress of the Republic of Peru, whose purpose since then is to create a sense of reflection on the material and immaterial wealth that Peruvians inherited from their ancestors. Likewise, the celebration of this day decreed several years ago seeks to recover and give great importance to the inhabitants of the towns of the interior of Peru.
Peru's varied and rugged geography has been home to civilizations for more than 5,000 years, being the oldest in our continent. The ancient Peruvians formed ethnic groups that coexisted with their different cultures and languages. During the colonization process, although the conquered population was forbidden to express themselves in their own language and cultivate their culture, many of these practices and beliefs remained in force.
