The objective is to raise public awareness with a key message: the importance of early detection in order to improve the prognosis and survival of cases, which continues to be the cornerstone of the fight against this disease, which is the leading cause of death in the female population worldwide.
According to statistics provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that each year in the Americas, more than 462 thousand women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and almost 100 thousand die from the disease. In Latin America and the Caribbean, the highest percentage of deaths occurs in women under 65 years of age, 56 percent, compared to the United States and Canada, 37 percent. In Mexico, breast cancer (CaMa) is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women 25 years of age and older.
The pink ribbon is the symbol of those who join the detection and prevention campaign against the disease, which causes approximately 20,444 new cases every year.
