Fray Lorenzo Cantú founded in 1626 the Mission of Santa María de los Angeles in Río Blanco, which received the category of village in 1877; later it received the title of city in 1912 taking its name in honor of Don José Silvestre Aramberri, hero of the Reform and Governor of Nuevo León around 1859.
It is an agricultural valley located in the south of the mountains of Nuevo Leon, it is one of the places where the people are still farmers and preserve their deeply rooted religious traditions. As a small tourist attraction there are remains of old haciendas and mansions, which together with the small chapels and churches and the busts of patriotic heroes are simple monuments that deserve to be known.
Outside the city is the Cueva del Cordel, with interesting cave paintings. Also known as "El Paraíso del Sur" (The Paradise of the South), located in the south of Nuevo León, is a valley where avocado and walnut trees dominate the landscape as well as the transparency of its water streams.
Its pear, apple and avocado crops make Aramberri a municipality to be enjoyed with all five senses.
