The aim of this commemoration is to raise awareness among the population to increase organ donations so that many people can continue to live.
The coordinating body of the Spanish system of organ and tissue donation and transplantation is the National Transplant Organization (Organización Nacional de Trasplantes)).
Organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Spain is regulated by the Law on Organ Harvesting and Transplantation. It is a legal instrument approved in 1979 by the Spanish Parliament.
