16 June - National Heroes Day in Bermuda
A National Hero is someone who has made significant positive contributions to the growth and development of society, and represents all of us. To know heroes is to know ourselves: values, collective history, who we are, and what makes us as Bermudians great.
Dame Lois Browne-Evans was inducted as Bermuda’s first national hero in 2009, and an additional seven heroes have been inducted the 13 years since then. Mary Prince. Gladys Misick Morrell. Sir John W. Swan, KBE, JP. Dr. E.F. Gordon.... Take this time to appreciate the endeavours and successes of national heroes and where we are now because of them.
Now is the time to look after each other, remember what binds us over what divides us, and be our children’s heroes by creating a better world for them… together.
