The celebration aims to promote neighborhood solidarity and territorial development. In other words, on Neighbor's Day, the aim is to promote the culture of the good neighbor. Neighbor's Day is celebrated on June 11 at the initiative of Romeo Raffo Bontá, a resident of Villa del Parque, one of the 48 neighborhoods into which the City of Buenos Aires is divided.
Bontá received the support of the Villa del Parque Neighborhood Association and in 1946 the Neighbor's Day was established. Later, with the death of Romeo Raffo Bontá, the City of Buenos Aires added it as a date in the Buenos Aires calendar.
