“Dog chaining” describes a practice in which dog owners tether their dogs outdoors to a stationary object for extended periods of time. In some cases, chained dogs may be tethered for days, months, or even years. Dog chaining poses serious threats to a dog's physical and psychological well-being.
What do dogs feel when chained? An otherwise friendly and docile dog, when kept continuously chained or intensively confined in any way, becomes neurotic, unhappy, anxious and often aggressive. It is common for continuously tethered dogs to endure physical ailments as a result of being continuously tethered.
