Lammas

Lammas is held on August 1. England, Scotland. This event in the first decade of the month August is annual.
Lammas is the first harvest festival of the year. It is an ancient festival of harvesting grains. 3100–2686 B.C. In ancient Egypt, a successful harvest is welcomed with a feast. Lammastide is the season around the Lammas holiday.
Historically, the fresh wheat from the harvest is made into loaves of bread to be brought to church. Lammas day falls on August 1.
It is the first of the three autumn harvest festivals, the other two being the autumn equinox (also called Mabon) and Samhain. In the Northern Hemisphere it takes place around 1 August, while in the Southern Hemisphere it is celebrated around 1 February.
