Marine Conservation City Day in Kiel
Marine Conservation City Day in Kiel is held on June 8. This event in the first decade of the month June is annual.
On June 8, Kiel not only celebrates World Oceans Day, but also elevates this day to a local celebration with the "Marine Conservation City Day" (Tag der Meeresschutzstadt). Kiel, as a pioneer in marine conservation, uses this opportunity to mobilize the community and raise awareness for marine ecosystems.
The Ocean Summit Kiel, in cooperation with Kiel-Marketing, has expanded this day into a colorful spectrum of activities since 2022. Supported by Segelcamp Kiel and numerous NGOs dedicated to marine conservation, the day offers an educational and entertaining program.
The program includes performances by local artists, presentations by environmental initiatives and interactive educational activities. Various local and national partner organizations from the fields of marine research, climate and marine conservation will participate.
From creative do-it-yourself workshops and environmentally friendly clean-ups to rousing live music - the Marine Conservation City Day is an inclusive event that imparts knowledge, inspires action and highlights the importance of the sea for Kiel.
