Grandparents Day in Honduras

Grandparents Day in Honduras is held on July 26. Date reflects the feast date of the Saints Anne and Joachim the grandparents of Jesus Christ. This event in the third decade of the month July is annual.
Also, July 26 is not Grandparents Day all over the world. Only Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama and Venezuela honor them on this date. Worldwide, October 1 is celebrated as the International Day of Older Persons.
The day to celebrate it is not accidental. The chosen day coincides with Santa Ana and San Joaquín, parents of the Virgin Mary and, therefore, maternal grandparents of Jesus. They are considered the "patrons" of all grandparents. It was the NGO Messengers of Peace who promoted this festivity in 1998.
