Universal Children's Day is a day intended to generate activities that develop the welfare of all children in the world, also reaffirming their universal rights. The idea of celebrating "Children's Day" was born on November 20, 1959, when the UN General Assembly held a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, in which it decided to reaffirm the rights of children universally, by approving the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This October 1st we celebrate Children's Day in El Salvador, Guatemala and Sri Lanka, so we invite you to promote and take care of the 10 fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
According to UNICEF, all children's rights are included in an international treaty that obliges governments to comply with them: the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which entered into force in 1990 and includes 54 articles related to civil, political, economic and cultural rights of children and adolescents.
