The Veterans Day of the Fights for the Independence of the Republic of Poland, celebrated annually on September 1, was established on April 25, 1997 by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland as a feast of defenders of the Fatherland, commemorating those who died in defense of Poland's independence on the battlefields.
