In Belgium, Mother's Day (Moederdag or Moederkesdag in Dutch and Fête des Mères in French) is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Father's Day (Vaderdag/Fête des Pères) is celebrated on the second Sunday of June or 14 June, and it is not a public holiday, except for Antwerp where it's celebrated on 19 March.
Mother's Day has been celebrated in Antwerp on 15 August since 1913, thanks to the Antwerp liberal alderman and artist Frans Van Kuyck. It introduced the day on the feast day of Mary, the patron saint of the city.
