July 14, Honduran Day is celebrated, in memory of the attack of El Salvador against Honduras in 1969, an armed conflict that was called "the football war" or "the hundred hour war".
The immediate cause of the war was the loss of the Honduras team to the El Salvador team in the playoff matches of the qualifying stage of the World Cup, which explains the name given to the conflict. Total losses ~ 2000 dead.
It is a date where we remember the feeling of unity among Hondurans.
