Purple Day is a global grassroots event that was formed with the intention to increase worldwide awareness of epilepsy, and to dispel common myths and fears of this neurological disorder.
Dress Purple Day was developed by Ontario's Children's Aid Societies to raise awareness about supports that are available and how to access them. It also encourages all Ontarians to do their part in supporting vulnerable families in their local community.
Musician Neil Young was diagnosed with epilepsy in his childhood. 26th President of the United States Theodore Roosevelt struggled with epilepsy. Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has mild epilepsy. Many books suggest Napoleon Bonaparte suffered from epilepsy throughout his life.
