The Sri Lanka Air Force is the air arm and the youngest of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. It was founded as the Royal Ceylon Air Force with the assistance of the Royal Air Force. As such the Royal Ceylon Air Force was formed on 2 March 1951 with RAF officers and other personnel seconded to the RCyAF.
