The date was chosen in memory of the formation of the Centro de Auxiliares de Farmacia, which later became the Asociación Nacional de Empleados de Farmacia (ANEF) and is currently the Asociación de Empleados de Farmacia (ADEF).
This ephemeris began to be celebrated since 2012, after about 6 decades where the union fought to achieve this day and for the pharmacy employee to have certain labor rights, the possibility of requesting a minimum wage, social benefits and different means to improve their hiring.
This day is also endorsed by other organizations such as the Argentine Federation of Pharmacy Workers (FATFA) and the Union of Pharmacy Employees (SEF), and its purpose is to pay tribute to the work of the professionals in the field and to remember those who fought for their recognition.
In those years, pharmacy workers were seeking national recognition, in order to comply with the provisions of Art. 42 of the Collective Labor Agreement, which consists in the fact that these professionals can choose to rest during the working day or go to work being doubly remunerated.
