Today, December 5 is Public Administrator's Day in country (Día del Administrador Público), a fact that allows us to remember the importance of highlighting the public function and its exercise in democratic society, particularly in times of crisis.
This profession, created by the University of Chile in 1954, seeks to provide the country with servants who collaborate in the management and administration of the State, being those essential in the democratic legitimacy of public administration. Indeed, citizens expect their public servants to be at the service of general interests, which in turn generates confidence in the state bureaucracy and collaborates in achieving a more just society; in this way Chile is more democratic.
Thus, it is of utmost relevance to work today with special care on projects that may affect previous modernizing processes in the context of the exercise of the civil service.
