Today Europe celebrates the "Day of the Homeless" with the aim of making visible the conditions of extreme poverty and social exclusion in which homeless people live. This reality affects a number of people who wander exposed to the cold or rain, with a disfigured face, carrying their few belongings through the streets of our cities.
The right to housing is a human right, enshrined in the Constitution. Even so, this situation of vulnerability is invisible and people living on the streets suffer more aggressions, their basic rights are ignored, they have more health problems and their life expectancy is 20 years lower than average.
Every November 23rd is the European Day of Homeless People, a day that reminds us that more than 400,000 people in Europe live on the street, although it is impossible to know the exact number. This day has precisely this objective: to put the focus on this problem of society and try to eradicate homelessness.
