Today, October 27, is International Proofreading Day, also known as Proofreaders' Day. This tribute to the professionals who work to ensure that texts are written correctly was instituted by the Litterae Foundation.
This foundation is an institution dedicated to the Spanish language that disseminates and promotes the study and training of international proofreaders to work in publishing houses, companies and in improving the use of proofreading in the work of translators.
This date was chosen to commemorate this work because it is the date of birth of the Dutch philosopher and great humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam, who did great work in the translation and proofreading of Latin texts.
