Acquired brain injury (ABI) is any type of brain injury that happens after birth. It covers many different situations rather than just one disease or condition, and it may occur in many different ways.
The Council of Ministers has declared October 26 "National Acquired Brain Injury Day" (Día nacional del Daño Cerebral Adquirido). The aim is to turn this date into an event capable of mobilizing society and involving it in the prevention of this type of injury.
Acquired brain injury (ABI) is a sudden injury to the brain that produces various sequelae, physical, psychological or sensory, and that develop abnormalities in sensory perception, cognitive alterations in memory or emotionally.
According to a study carried out by the Spanish Federation of Brain Injury (FEDACE), in Spain there is a group of about 300,000 people with this type of injury.
