Chilean Wine Day has been celebrated every September 4 since 2015. At that time, President Michelle Bachelet signed a decree at Viña Cousiño Macul, within which she recognized this celebration. In addition, this particular day dates back to 1545, when Don Pedro de Valdivia sent a letter to Charles V in Spain, requesting "vines and wines to evangelize Chile".
Since then, the wine industry in Chile has developed to such a level that, by establishing this day as a national holiday, they ranked worthy among wine exporting countries.
In 2021 Statista released a ranking in this regard. To the surprise of Latin America, only two countries in the region appear among the top 10: Chile, in fifth position, with exports exceeding 1,664 million euros.
