24 August - Patron saint festival in Tenayuca, Tlalnepantla, México
San Bartolo Tenayuca or simply Tenayuca is a Mexican town located at the foot of the Cerro del Tenayo in the Sierra de Guadalupe in the municipality of Tlalnepantla de Baz, 10 kilometers northwest of downtown Mexico City. It is characterized by cobblestone streets and is built on an extensive archaeological zone with vestiges of Teotihuacan and Chichimeca cultures, as well as Acolhua and Mexica, after the XII-XIII centuries. In ancient times it was settled on the northwestern shore of the great Lake Texcoco. The study of the area began in 1914 and it was classified as an archaeological monument. The Direction of Anthropology, dependent on the Secretariat of Agriculture and Development, had already taken note since 1898 of the promontory of earth and mud that existed in the center of the town, where the current pyramid would later be discovered.
Every year on August 24, the town celebrates its patron saint's day. Between the pyramid and the parish church is the Wichita Plaza, named in honor of the twinning between Tlalnepantla de Baz and that North American city.
