Machala, also known as San Antonio de Machala, is an Ecuadorian city; cantonal head of the Canton Machala and capital of the Province of El Oro, as well as the largest and most populous city of the same. It is located south of the coastal region of Ecuador, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, at an altitude of 6 m above sea level and with a warm semi-arid climate of 26 ° C on average.
In 1898, the city of Machala had a main street, called "Calle del Comercio", which is currently known as Avenida 25 de Junio.
