The mathematical teacher is the one who uses, informs, reflects and experiments with numbers, figures, and studies the science of geometry and symbols in order to find new applications and generate new knowledge to be used in problem solving. Therefore, in honor of his admirable work, sanmarquinos celebrate for the first time the Day of the Peruvian Mathematician.
The College of Mathematicians of Peru (COMAP) assigned the celebration of the Day of the Mathematician, on June 3, in memory of the distinguished Peruvian scholar Federico Villarreal Villarreal, who died on the aforementioned day, in 1923. During his life he ventured into almost all fields of human development and the world, devoting himself entirely to the study of science, research and teaching.
