The day of the completo became popular in 2009. At that time, the Dominó chain, which specializes in a wide variety of "completos", decided to celebrate the day with great discounts and promotions in its retail outlets.
Subsequently, other food establishments joined the celebration. Thus, the Día del Completo was established to offer special prices for this sandwich.
The emergence of the completo dates back to 1920 in the country, so the sandwich has already completed a century of existence in the menu of Chileans. It all started with a culinary creation by Eduardo Bahamondes, owner of Quick Lunch Bahamondes, who tried to reproduce the recipe of the "hotdog" from the United States in his own place.
The ingredients used by Bahamondes consisted of vienna, diced tomato, avocado, sauerkraut, onion and parsley. Because of this wide variety of ingredients, its creator called the new sandwich completo.
