Civil Service Day in Guatemala

The National Civil Service Office is the institution responsible for the technical, harmonic, dynamic and efficient administration of the human resources system of the Public Administration, in order to guarantee the country a suitable and effective performance of the Government's institutional work, for the benefit of the citizens.

According to Governmental Agreement 464-84, on May 11 of each year the "National Civil Service Day" is commemorated as a recognition to the public servants who with dedication build a better nation.

Its activities are carried out within the legal framework established by the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala, the Civil Service Law, and the Law of Civilian Passive Classes of the State and its Regulations and other complementary provisions, which indicate that the National Civil Service Office -ONSEC- is responsible for regulating the relations between the Public Administration and its servants, for which it should be understood as such, all administrative bodies that depend on the Executive Branch and its decentralized and autonomous entities attached to such regulations; As well as all matters concerning the administration of the different pensions granted to former employees and beneficiaries of the State Civilian Passive Class Regime.
