The date of the Cartoon Day was established in 2002 by the International Animated Film Association and is celebrated on April 6. On this day, animators from different countries exchange film programs and hold screenings for an appreciative audience.
"International Association of Animated Film Association" (ASIFA) - the international noncommercial organization devoted to development of animation art. It is based in 1960 in Annecy (France). One of the founders of the organization and its first president (1960-1979) was the famous British-Canadian artist animator, film director and producer Norman McLaren.
Branches of the Association were present in such countries as Argentina, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Egypt, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Poland, Republic of Korea, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, Great Britain, and the USA.
