It is a date to recognize that a free, responsible and independent press is essential to strengthen democracy. This day is dedicated to honoring journalistic work and in memory of journalists killed in the exercise of their work.
This celebration has its origin in memory of the first publication: "El Semanario Politico Mercantil" by Bishop José Matías Delgado, on July 31, 1824.
