The idea of celebrating Clown Day in Brazil originated in São Paulo in 1981. In that year, Cia. Abracadraba, a traveling circus company, had Mexican clowns working, who wanted to have introduced their Mexican Clown Day in Brazil. Since then, Clown Day is celebrated in a growing number of cities.
